Along the Way

It's been four months since my last post, and for that I'm sorry, especially to those who've been following my blog for inspiration of comfort.

Once I started back to work, time just flew by... however, my expected 2 weeks of recuperation ended up being nearly two months.  Even so, after a week and a half I participated in a very important funeral (barely), and a few weeks later, another funeral.  I've had so many these last few months.  Such things pulled me out of recuperation a little too soon, and then I needed more time.  Lesson learned!

A saving grace for me, at least, was the support and help of good friends and colleagues, who stepped in for worship and helped with the visitations and funerals.  The world doesn't stop when you have surgery, not if you're a pastor!

I'm still quite a ways from my end goal, whatever that will be, but I've lost 66 pounds in 5 and a half months so far.  My fit bit (yes I have one) says that I have 45 or so to go, but who knows what my body will decided.  I feel good, mostly energetic (as long as I drink lots of water).  I pretty much eat whatever I want, except only a teeny tiny portion of it.  For instance, I can eat most of a Lean Cuisine, but not all.  For breakfast, I eat a tablespoon of cottage cheese with a tablespoon of granola with nuts.  Protein is the big deal, drinking lots of fluids, and taking my vitamins (all of them).

These days my pill box is nearly empty, where before surgery it was overflowing with all the pills that I was prescribed to take - daily.  Pills for GERD, Cholesterol, pain, etc.  These days, I take Arthritis Strength Tylenol.  It helps, mostly, but I still have another hip replacement somewhere on the horizon.

I've gone from a size 20 to a size 16, which is getting a bit loose.  It's nice to be able to shop in a regular store for my clothes.  This year, I'm looking forward to confirmation camp, I bought some new shorts and capris, and I'll have way more energy than last year.

I hope this catches you all up to date.  Stay tuned, the journey's not over yet!!

God bless,
Pastor Deb
